Seven Salesloft KPIs selected to track sales engagement activity and pipeline conversion per rep, with the selection criteria made explicit.
| Indicator | Object | Type | Formula | Unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Connected Calls Number of calls that resulted in a live connection with the prospect. | Calls | Leading | COUNT | count |
| Talk Time Total minutes spent in connected calls. | Calls | Leading | SUM(duration) | minutes |
| Email Reply Rate Ratio of replies received over emails sent, per rep. | Emails | Leading | COUNT_RATIO | % |
| Meetings Booked Number of meetings scheduled in the period. | Meetings | Leading | COUNT | count |
| Meetings Held Number of meetings that were actually held. | Meetings | Lagging | COUNT | count |
| Opportunities Created Number of opportunities sourced by the rep in the period. | Opportunities | Lagging | COUNT | count |
| Overdue Cadence Steps Number of cadence steps currently past their scheduled execution date. | Cadence_memberships | Leading | COUNT | count |
Salesloft exposes a wide range of objects: people, accounts, cadences, cadence memberships, calls, emails, meetings, opportunities, tasks, notes, and successes. This integration covers the four objects that generate the most direct and attributable performance signals for SDR and AE teams: calls, emails, meetings, and opportunities. Objects such as notes, tasks, and raw cadence memberships were evaluated and excluded — they reflect administrative activity rather than contribution outcomes. Seven KPIs were retained, selected against three criteria: ability to attribute to an individual rep, resistance to gaming, and balance between leading and lagging indicators.
Connected Calls counts the number of calls in which the rep reached a live prospect — not simply dialed. Talk Time measures the total minutes spent in those connected conversations. Raw dial counts were deliberately excluded from this integration: in environments where reps are managed against volume targets, dial counts are among the most reliably gamed metrics in sales, with reps known to place calls of deliberate brevity to inflate the count without achieving any engagement. Connected Calls eliminates this vector by requiring that a conversation actually occurred. Talk Time then adds a second dimension: a rep accumulating many brief connections and a rep sustaining extended conversations are doing qualitatively different work, and that difference is strategically significant. Read together, Connected Calls and Talk Time reveal whether a rep is reaching people and holding conversations, not merely dialing.
Email Reply Rate measures the ratio of replies received to emails sent, per rep. Raw email volume was excluded for the same reason as raw dial counts: sending volume is trivially inflatable and correlates weakly with pipeline generation. Reply rate, by contrast, reflects prospect perception of relevance — it is a measure of whether the email was worth responding to. Open rate was also evaluated and excluded: it has become an unreliable signal following widespread email pixel-blocking by major clients since 2021, and the noise it introduces would distort the indicator. Reply rate captures what open rate was intended to approximate, with substantially less noise. At industry benchmark levels of three to six percent, a rep's reply rate relative to their peers reveals the quality of their sequencing and messaging discipline.
Meetings Booked counts meetings scheduled in the period. Meetings Held counts meetings that were actually attended. The distinction between the two is analytically significant: a high Meetings Booked count combined with a low Meetings Held count indicates a no-show problem, which may reflect poor prospect qualification, insufficient confirmation sequences, or a mismatch between the promise implied by the outreach and the meeting being offered. When Meetings Held approaches Meetings Booked, the rep's qualification and follow-through are working. When the gap is large, the issue is upstream of the meeting itself.
Opportunities Created is the first lagging indicator to confirm that the engagement cycle produced a pipeline outcome. It is the downstream result of all activity: calls placed, emails sent, meetings held. A rep with strong leading indicators but low Opportunities Created may be conducting productive conversations that do not convert into qualified pipeline — a coaching signal distinct from the activity problem diagnosed by call and email metrics.
Overdue Cadence Steps counts the number of cadence steps currently past their scheduled execution date for a given rep. This indicator does not measure output — it measures compliance with the assigned process. Salesloft is structured around the premise that consistent multi-touch execution produces predictable results; a rep who allows steps to accumulate as overdue is deviating from that process regardless of how their other metrics appear. This KPI surfaces that deviation before it manifests in a degradation of Meetings Booked or Opportunities Created, making it a leading indicator of future activity shortfalls rather than a confirmation of past ones.
Salesloft is the system of record for sales engagement activity, not for pipeline value or revenue outcomes. Opportunity amounts, deal stages, and close dates are typically mirrored from Salesforce or HubSpot into Salesloft, not entered natively — for those metrics, the CRM integration is the appropriate source of truth. This integration deliberately limits itself to the metrics where Salesloft is the origin: calls, emails, meetings, and cadence execution. The quality of a conversation — whether a rep built genuine rapport, uncovered real pain, or proposed the right solution — is not captured in any structured field and remains invisible to this integration.
Furthermore, Salesloft only records what reps log within the platform. Calls made from personal phones, emails sent outside the tool, and meetings booked without Salesloft involvement are not reflected in any of these KPIs. The reliability of this integration is directly proportional to team adoption: organizations where Salesloft is the mandatory, exclusive channel for all prospect interactions will see accurate indicators; organizations with partial adoption will see indicators that systematically undercount the activity of reps who work outside the platform.
